It is cheaper to do like the Balinese – explore the island on our scooters- but drive carefully, keep left and if you do not trust, dive into the roadside!
For those who have the time walking is probably the best way to explore Bali. The beautiful nature invites you to make long walks. This, still active, volcano is a major tourist attraction on the island. The 1771 meter high Mount Batur is very active, and knew eruptions in 1804, 1917, 1926, 1963, 1974, 1994 and 1999. you can start your clime at Purajati and Kedisan.
The 3142 meter high volcano Gunung Agung is best climbed in the period from July to October. The climb is quite heavy, long and dangerous. Hiring a guide is therefore strongly recommended. There are three general routes used to climb the mountain, one from the south, a second from the east and the third form the west. This latter route is most commonly taken because of the starting point: Pura Besakih. The best time to climb the Agung is early in the morning. Climbing the Gunung Agung is a beautiful but difficult journey. Recon with a climb of about 4 hours and another 4 hours for the descent. Much effort, an early wake up, very cold, but the view and the beautiful sunrise is the very difficult journey worth.
Diving and snorkeling
If you are on Bali there is 1 thing you have to do in any case: scuba diving or snorkeling. At the north coast of Bali there is an impressive coral reef. The prime location is the island Pulau Menjangan, a small island in the northwest at about 1 hour drive from Loka Residence. The underwater world there belongs to the absolute top of the world. For more information we refer to the diving page on this website.
Do you play golf or do you want to try it in a wonderful environment? In one hour’s drive from the villa there is the 18-hole golf course of the “Bali Handara Kosaida Golf and Country Club.” This course is situated in the mountains and is one of the most beautiful courses in Asia. The exotic setting is a golfers paradise! Because of the high altitude (about 1100 meters) the temperature is more than pleasant, an average of 20 ° C. Around the track you can enjoy the beautiful tropical flowers, plants and trees. This course was designed by the renowned architect Peter Thompson.
